Summer Themed Movie Nights: Cars

There's something about turning the lights low, gathering everyone onto the couch, and hitting play that makes the whole evening feel like its own little world. Our family movie nights have quietly become one of the rhythms of our home, the kind of tradition I hope my kids look back on one day and feel wrapped up in all over again. The anticipation, the blankets, the way everyone finds their spot!
This week, we raced off to Radiator Springs with Lightning McQueen and Mater, and I went full send on the themed menu. Over the top? Maybe a little. Worth it? Every single time.

🌭 Mater's Tow Dogs
Little pigs in a blanket, wrapped up snug and ready to be towed right off the plate. Simple, beloved, and exactly the kind of food that has everyone reaching for seconds before the opening credits even roll. Git-R-Done indeed.
🧀 Cozy Cone Mac and Cheese
Creamy homemade mac and cheese served in crescent roll cones, straight from Sally's Cozy Cone Motel. This one was the star of the table, cozy in name and cozy in every single bite.
🍩 Luigi's Leaning Tower of Tires
A stacked, snackable tower worthy of Luigi's Casa Della Tires. The kids thought it was hilarious, and it leaned just enough to feel authentic. Presentation points all around.
🍿 Piston Cup Popcorn
Served in a trophy, because if you're going to have popcorn on race night, it might as well be championship popcorn. This one made the whole table feel like the winner's circle.
🍹 Fillmore's Fuel
Poppi fruit punch, poured cold and fizzy. The kids knew exactly whose drink this was, and it made the whole movie feel more meaningful before it even started. Fillmore would approve of the organic vibes.
I'll be honest, the food is really only half of it. The other half is just the togetherness. The way my kids burrow into their blankets and settle in for something slow and good. These weekly movie nights have become the highlight of our week, and I don't say that lightly. In a world that rarely slows down, these quiet evenings built around a great story and a table full of food feel like some of the most important hours we spend.
If you haven't tried building your movie night menu around the movie itself, I can't recommend it enough. It takes something you were already going to do and turns it into something your kids will bring up for years.
