Christmas morning in our house is always a beautiful chaos. Kids excitedly tearing into presents, wrapping paper everywhere, and the smell of something delicious baking in the oven. But between all the excitement, there's one thing I've learned: everyone needs a good breakfast to keep the energy going.
That's where these maple butter ham, egg, and cheese sliders come in.
Let's be honest—Christmas is FILLED with treats. Cookies, candy canes, maybe some sweet breads or pastries. And while I'm all for enjoying the day, I've found that starting with something protein-packed makes a huge difference in how everyone feels throughout the morning. I usually make these along with cinnamon rolls.
A breakfast with eggs, ham, and cheese gives your family the fuel they need to enjoy the day without the sugar crash an hour later. Plus, they're easy to prep ahead, which means you're not stuck in the kitchen while everyone else is opening presents.
Now, these could just be regular ham, egg, and cheese sliders—and they'd still be delicious. But brushing them with maple butter takes them to the next level. The sweet maple glaze caramelizes as they bake, adding this gorgeous golden finish and a hint of sweetness that pairs perfectly with the savory ham and eggs. It's that little touch that makes them feel extra special for Christmas morning.
I use my homemade dinner rolls for these because there's nothing like fresh-baked bread, especially on Christmas morning. The soft, buttery rolls are the perfect base for all those delicious layers. It's one of my most-used recipes, and once you master it, you'll be making these rolls for everything.
This Christmas, skip the stress and make breakfast something your family will look forward to year after year. These maple butter ham, egg, and cheese sliders are cozy, delicious, and exactly what Christmas morning needs.
To make ahead of time: Complete steps 1-4 (assemble the sliders with ham, eggs, and cheese) Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight. The next morning, gently warm the maple butter. Brush the maple butter over the cold sliders Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes. Cover them if necessary to prevent the tops from browning too quickly.
